Shandong science and Technology Museum was founded in 1956, with a building area of 2537 square meters. It was one of the first science and technology museums in China at that time. After expansion in 1983, the building area reached 6756 square meters. In 2001, Shandong provincial Party committee and provincial government decided to rebuild the science and Technology Museum on the east side of Jinan Quancheng Square. The reconstruction hall was officially opened to the public on January 3, 2004. It is the only modern comprehensive science popularization hall in our province.

Shandong Provincial Science and Technology Museum now covers an area of 8400 square meters, with a building area of 21000 square meters. Through the permanent exhibition hall, special exhibition hall, mobile science and Technology Museum, digital science and Technology Museum, 4D cinema, science popularization caravan, science popularization report hall, astronomical observatory and other carriers, it has carried out a wide range of science popularization exhibition and teaching activities, receiving 1.2 million people a year and more than 1000 media publicity reports every year. Among them, the permanent exhibition hall covers an area of more than 10000 square meters, with more than 400 exhibits arranged with the theme of "human exploration and innovation", covering mathematics, physics, chemistry, astronomy, geography, biology, energy, materials, ocean, agriculture, transportation and other disciplines, vividly explaining the development process of human understanding and transformation of the world in history. The permanent exhibition hall also has youth science popularization education exchange platform and scientific practice experience area, and regularly organizes various educational exchanges and scientific practice activities.

Shandong Provincial Science and Technology Museum is the palace for the people of the whole province, especially the majority of teenagers to learn scientific knowledge, and it is an important position and window to spread scientific civilization and advanced socialist culture. Shandong Provincial Science and Technology Museum will always adhere to the principle of "science, the public, public welfare and openness", take improving the scientific quality of the whole people as its own duty, do its best to popularize scientific knowledge, promote scientific spirit, spread scientific ideas and scientific methods, and make positive contributions to improving the scientific and cultural quality of the masses and building a strong province of economy and culture.
