Why Indonesia?

The textile industry is an important industry in Indonesia. 12% of the 94 million employed people in Indonesia are concentrated in manufacturing industry (about 11.3 million people), while the employment in the textile industry accounts for about 15% of the manufacturing industry (about 1.75 million people, excluding 2 million indirectly employed people). The average annual foreign exchange of the textile industry in the past 10 years has exceeded 5 billion US dollars for Indonesia. According to the statistics of the Ministry of industry of Indonesia, in 2008, Indonesia's textile export amounted to 11 billion US dollars, in 2009 to 11.8 billion US dollars, in 2010 to 13.88 billion US dollars. In recent years, the development is even faster, reaching 23.3 billion US dollars in 2015, and it is expected to add 2.25 million jobs in 2018 and 6.17 million jobs in 2030. The textile industry has been Indonesia's largest export contributor outside of oil and gas. Indonesia produces 70% of its textile and garment exports, and its two largest export markets are the United States and the European Union (about 65% of total exports).

Apart from the EU and the United States, Indonesia's important trading partners are mainly concentrated in the Asia Pacific region, including China, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia and Australia.
