In recent years, the term 'including reserves' in government work reports has been increasing day by day, and the development of new energy storage industries has gradually shifted from scale to commercialization. The application scenarios of new energy storage have also shifted from grid storage, source storage, and household storage to the coordinated development of intelligent transportation, smart buildings, smart cities, industrial energy conservation, intelligent computing power, zero carbon parks, new rural areas, and other fields. Supported by policy mechanisms and market demand, China's lithium-ion battery production capacity for energy storage, installed capacity of new energy storage industries, and engineering application projects all rank first in the world.

According to incomplete data statistics from the CESA Energy Storage Application Branch, the cumulative installed capacity of new energy storage in China has exceeded 74GW in 2024. It is expected that the cumulative installed capacity of new energy storage in China may exceed 110GW by 2025, and the cumulative installed capacity of new energy storage in China will reach over 240GW by 2030. The output value of the energy storage industry's industrial chain and supply chain is expected to reach over 700 billion yuan in 2024, surpassing one trillion yuan by 2025, and reaching 3 trillion yuan by 2030. 2025 is a critical period for the development of new energy storage from the initial stage of commercialization to scale. In the face of industry competition, it is necessary to strengthen technological innovation, combine AI and artificial intelligence technology, promote the research and development of high safety, large capacity, long-life, intelligent control, intelligent operation and maintenance, network type energy storage core technology equipment, and the digital management of the entire life cycle of system integration. Establish a product carbon footprint management system, monitor and optimize the performance of energy storage devices, and further promote the research and application of new diversified energy storage technologies, hybrid energy storage technologies, and long-term energy storage technologies.

The 16th CIES Energy Storage Conference and Exhibition will be held from August 9-11, 2026 at the Hangzhou International Expo Center.
