The Caspian Oil&Gas (COG) is an oil and gas industry exhibition jointly initiated by the President of Azerbaijan and leaders of the countries surrounding the Caspian Sea. Since 1994, it has been directly organized by the Ministry of Energy Industry of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR). It is the only international oil and gas exhibition supported by the governments of the countries surrounding the Caspian Sea, and the President of Azerbaijan attends this exhibition every year.

The Caspian Sea is considered the next 'Persian Gulf'! COG is one of the most well-known oil and gas trade exhibitions among the countries surrounding the Caspian Sea. Since its inception, it has received strong support and assistance from Azerbaijan and neighboring countries, creating one of the largest oil, petrochemical, and gas exhibitions in the Caspian Sea region.

Baku is known as the 'Soviet oil depot', and the oil and gas industry is the main pillar industry of Azerbaijan's national economy. Oil and gas resources are mainly distributed in the Apuren Peninsula and the Caspian Sea. 48 billion barrels of oil reserves have been discovered in the Caspian Sea region, accounting for 3.5% of the world's total reserves. Azerbaijan's machine manufacturing industry is relatively backward, and the vast majority of petroleum machinery relies on imports.
