Wuhan is one of the six major cities in China for the development of automobile industry clusters, forming a concentrated area of automobile parts industry with Wuhan Economic Development Zone as the core area, Donghu High tech Zone, Dongxihu District, Jiangxia District, and Caidian District each with their own characteristics. During the 14th Five Year Plan period, Wuhan accelerated the transformation and development of the automotive industry, achieving significant results. In 2024, the scale of Wuhan's automobile manufacturing and service industry will exceed 300 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 10.7%.
The research conference on the transformation and development of Wuhan's automobile industry during the 15th Five Year Plan period emphasized the need to focus on building "three bases and one highland", consolidate and enhance the position of an important national automobile industry base, build a national new energy and intelligent connected vehicle intelligent manufacturing base, construct a national automobile and parts export base, seize the important national automobile industry innovation highland, scientifically plan the transformation path of Wuhan's automobile industry, and further promote the growth and strength of the city's automobile industry. We must adhere to promoting industrial innovation through technological innovation, focus on improving the industrial chain and supply chain, further enhance the proportion of Wuhan's automobile industry, promote the extension of the automobile industry value chain to the high-end, continuously build new advantages for development, accelerate the transformation of the "Chinese Automobile Valley" into the "World Automobile Valley", and provide strong support for accelerating the transformation of the "three advantages" and reshaping the "key" of Wuhan in the new era. Hubei will accelerate the construction of an important strategic pivot for the rise of the central region.
Exhibition Overview
As the core platform for innovative development of the automotive industry in the central region, the 2026 Wuhan International Automotive Industry Chain Innovation Technology Expo will grandly kick off from June 18-20 at the Wuhan International Expo Center. At the same time as the exhibition, more than 20 high-end conferences were held, including the 2026 China (Wuhan) International New Energy Vehicle Technology Summit, Intelligent Connected Vehicle Innovation and Development Forum, and Automotive Lightweight Material Application Seminar, inviting industry leaders, research institutions, and investors to discuss technology paths and business opportunities.
