With the rapid growth of the world population and economic and social development, water resource issues are becoming increasingly prominent. At present, many people around the world live in areas with water scarcity and even lack access to clean drinking water. In addition, the intensification of global climate change and frequent extreme weather events such as floods and droughts pose higher and more severe challenges to global water security. To this end, we call on all provinces, cities, and regions to take action, share advanced development concepts and technological achievements in the field of water resources, adopt comprehensive management and development measures that are energy-saving, environmentally friendly, and eco-friendly, and achieve the 2030 sustainable development water related goals.

In order to thoroughly implement the clear requirements put forward by the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China for improving disaster prevention, reduction, and relief capabilities, and coordinating water resources, water environment, and water ecological governance, it has pointed out the direction and provided guidance for the development of water conservancy in the new era and new journey. The Ministry of Water Resources is deeply studying and implementing the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, conscientiously implementing General Secretary Xi Jinping's "water conservation priority, spatial balance, systematic governance, and dual pronged approach" to water management, and solidly promoting the high-quality development of water conservancy in the new stage, providing strong water security guarantees for the comprehensive construction of a socialist modernized country and the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. After research, it is planned to hold the "2025 China (Shanxi) International Water Resources Conference&Water Exhibition and Yellow River Basin Ecology and Smart Water Technology Expo" at the Xiaohe International Convention and Exhibition Center in Shanxi Province from March 22-24, 2025 (World Water Day; China Water Week).
