INTRODUCTION
Exhibition Introduction:
The UK Solar Exhibition was founded in 2010 and is the most professional solar industry exhibition in the UK. It is also the only platform for industry companies to launch new products, search for new technologies, and develop new trade opportunities in the UK. After 12 years of development, the UK Solar Energy Exhibition has evolved from the previous well-known solar energy brand exhibition Solar Energy UK to a more extensive exhibition Clean Energy Live, and then returned to the more professional and high-end exhibition Solar&Storage Live for solar energy and energy storage. The 2025 UK Solar Energy Exhibition will feature over 500 exhibitors from 27 countries around the world and more than 20000 professional visitors. More than 250 professionals from the UK and global solar industry participated in the forum to give speeches and discuss the development of the solar industry in the UK.
Analysis of the UK solar energy market:
To meet the cumulative installation capacity of 20GW by 2020, the UK needs to stabilize the annual growth rate at 2.5GW over the next seven years. Assuming a ratio of 1:2 between rooftop projects and megawatt level ground support projects, this means that ground support projects need to have an annual growth rate of 1.5-1.7GW in advance, which is consistent with the expected number of projects to be built or connected to the grid in the project reserve in the next twelve to eighteen months. Compared to some other European countries such as Germany, the UK's solar power generation started slowly. However, the combination of public subsidies and reduced equipment costs makes it more attractive. UK asset management company Foresight Group plans to raise £ 200 million by issuing shares on the London Stock Exchange to purchase various assets in the UK
Eight photovoltaic power stations on the ground. British investment firm Bluefield Partners will spend £ 17 million to acquire Solarcentury's solar power plant developed in the Norfolk area. The Renewable Infrastructure Group in the UK has raised £ 300 million to invest in wind farms and solar power plants.
Energy storage is widely regarded as an important technology to alleviate the intermittent impact of renewable energy on the UK national grid. A recent report from the Solar Energy Trade Association found that adding 8GW of batteries by 2030 to accommodate 40GW of solar energy planning will result in negative intermittent costs, dropping to about -3.7/MWh. This means that solar intermittency can generate net profits by allowing the entry of batteries.
At present, the UK is believed to have nearly 12GW of solar installed capacity, while the Renewable Energy Association recently estimated that the operational storage of all technologies is 3.23GW.
The UK government has made relevant provisions in the "Future Residential Standards" to be implemented in the autumn of 2025, requiring new residential buildings to install photovoltaic, heat pump, and energy storage systems simultaneously, forming a "power generation storage electricity consumption" closed loop. This policy aims to significantly reduce household energy expenditure and enhance the national energy security level. According to relevant data, as of the end of 2024, the total installed capacity of photovoltaics in the UK is about 20GW, and the government hopes to reach 70GW by 2035. Under this policy,
The rooftop photovoltaic capacity of residential buildings in the UK is expected to increase from 4.2GW by the end of 2024 to 15.3GW by 2035. At the same time, taking advantage of the demonstration effect of this policy, the demand for supporting energy storage will also increase synchronously.
