Since its establishment in 2000, the Shanghai International Elderly Care, Assistive Devices, and Rehabilitation Medical Expo (AID) has grown alongside China's elderly care industry for 25 years. The exhibition has always kept up with the pulse of industry development, gradually expanding from the initial business service platform to a comprehensive welfare industry event that integrates product display, technology exchange, policy interpretation, and global commerce.

In recent years, AID has successfully obtained UFI international certification, and its professionalism, internationalization level, and organizational capabilities have been recognized by international authoritative institutions, and have been included in multiple government policy documents to promote the development of the elderly care industry and the silver haired economy. In July 2025, the Ministry of Civil Affairs will launch the national "Elderly Care Service Consumption Season", systematically introducing diversified measures to benefit the people such as elderly care service consumption vouchers, consumption discounts, point reward exchange mechanisms, and subsidies for elderly meal assistance services. In January 2024, the General Office of the State Council issued the first specialized document in China to support the development of the silver economy, titled "Opinions on Developing the Silver Economy to Enhance the Welfare of the Elderly", marking the beginning of the "Silver Economy Year".

Wu Yushao, Vice Dean of the Institute of Aging at Fudan University and President of the China Association for Social Welfare and Elderly Care Services, pointed out that the silver economy has three key words: the most certain, the most stable, and the large industry. Since the release of relevant policy documents to promote the development of the silver haired economy by the government in 2024, the Shanghai Elderly Expo has keenly recognized the huge potential of the C-end consumer market for the silver haired group. It has pioneered the "Silver Hair Life Festival" themed pavilion, effectively connecting with the city's "trade in" consumption subsidy policy and successfully stimulating the enthusiasm of terminal consumption.

As one of the important activities of the 2025 Shanghai "55 Shopping Festival", the Shanghai Elderly Expo continues to expand the silver hair consumption ecology and comprehensively upgrade the silver hair life festival. Nearly 100 experts, scholars, and enterprise representatives will be invited to speak, attracting nearly 3500 participants. Since 2016, AID Talk Industry Salon has also been set up during the exhibition, providing a good platform for communication and sharing among enterprises.
