In the context of increasingly scarce global water resources and challenges to sustainable agricultural development, innovation and efficient utilization of irrigation technology have become key to ensuring food security and protecting the ecological environment. The 2025 China Shenyang International Irrigation Exhibition will grandly open at the Shenyang International Exhibition Center from August 29 to 31, 2025. Shenyang, as an important city in Northeast China, has shown a strong development trend and significant advantages in the field of irrigation. Shenyang has achieved remarkable results in the construction and management of irrigation areas. All 10 large and medium-sized irrigation district heads and main and branch canal mouths in the city have achieved metering, among which 6 large and medium-sized irrigation district heads with an area of over 50000 acres have achieved online metering to accurately control water use. The Hunbei Irrigation Area has successfully built a water-saving irrigation area and has been designated as a digital twin irrigation area by the Ministry of Water Resources. With advanced digital technology, it achieves precise irrigation scheduling and intelligent management, greatly improving irrigation efficiency and becoming an industry model.

In agricultural irrigation practice, Shenyang adapts to local conditions and actively adjusts the agricultural production structure. We have completed the construction of over 1.39 million mu of high standard farmland, reasonably reduced the rice planting area by 4%, and instead implemented efficient and characteristic crop planting of 174 million mu. We have screened and recommended more than 30 excellent grain varieties and promoted nearly 40 advanced and applicable technologies. This series of measures not only ensures agricultural output, but also effectively reduces water resource consumption and achieves optimized allocation of water resources.

From a natural perspective, Shenyang has outstanding geographical advantages. Located in the temperate continental monsoon climate zone, with an average annual temperature of 6.5 ° C, moderate precipitation, distinct four seasons, and sufficient sunshine, it provides suitable climatic conditions for crop growth. At the same time, the soil types are rich, mainly yellow brown soil, brown soil, and black soil. The soil is fertile, rich in humus, and has strong water and fertilizer retention capabilities. Coupled with abundant groundwater resources, it has laid a solid foundation for the development of irrigation.
