The National Pharmaceutical Machinery Expo was first held in 1991, organized by the China Pharmaceutical Equipment Industry Association in 1993. In 2001, Beijing Jingboxin Exhibition Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of the association, was responsible for the hosting and operation of the Pharmaceutical Machinery Expo. In 2008, the Ministry of Commerce approved the simultaneous hosting of the China International Pharmaceutical Machinery Expo. After years of standardized operation by a professional team, customer-oriented service awareness, and efficient exhibition information system support, the Pharmaceutical Machinery Expo has embarked on the track of market-oriented management and professional operation.

Since 2004, the Pharmaceutical Machinery Expo has been listed as one of the key supported exhibitions by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China for several consecutive years. In recent years, the exhibition area of each session has exceeded 150000 square meters, covering nine major sections such as formulation machinery, raw material medicine machinery, drug packaging machinery, testing&laboratory equipment, pharmaceutical water and gas equipment, engineering purification and environmental protection equipment, pharmaceutical crushing equipment, herbal medicine equipment, and other pharmaceutical machinery and equipment. More than 1400 exhibitors from nearly 30 countries and regions brought over 10000 sets of the latest equipment to participate in the exhibition, attracting nearly 80000 professional visitors to visit and exchange ideas on site. It has developed into one of the few large-scale pharmaceutical machinery expos in the world, with a reputation as "the best pharmaceutical machinery exhibition in the Asia Pacific region" and "the best platform for exploring the Chinese pharmaceutical market".
