Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Museum is a provincial comprehensive historical museum in China. Located in Northwest Road, Urumqi. It was prepared in 1953 and officially opened on October 1, 1963. The original design of the museum is an agricultural exhibition hall, which is a mountain shaped bungalow building. In 1962, it was moved to the current site and changed into a museum and opened to the public. The name of "Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region Museum" was inscribed for the museum by Zhu De, chairman of the old revolutionary, when he visited Xinjiang in 1959.

The new Xinjiang Museum, as a key construction project of the autonomous region, opened on September 20, 2005 with the concern and support of the Party committee, the people's government and the relevant ministries and commissions of the central government. Wang Lequan, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the Party committee of the autonomous region, and Simayi tielivaldi, chairman of the autonomous region, visited the museum in person to cut the ribbon for the opening of the new museum. The new museum has a building area of 17288 square meters, one underground floor and two above ground floors, and the main body is 18.5 meters high. It has achieved good results in the restoration and reproduction of clay figurines, the treatment and protection of ancient corpses, the restoration of broken tufted saddle blankets by wire mesh reinforcement, the reproduction of pottery by self built traditional small kilns, and the uncovering and mounting of ancient calligraphy and paintings. The elevation of the glass dome is 29.5m, and the building plane is basically a "one" type plane symmetrical layout, with rich western style and Xinjiang local characteristics.
