Dalian Natural Science Museum is a comprehensive Natural Science Museum registered by UNESCO, integrating the collection, research and display of geological, paleontological, animal and plant specimens. Its predecessor was founded in 1907. The new museum is a modern European style building. It is located in the beautiful Blackstone reef seashore, with a building area of 15000 square meters and an exhibition area of 10000 square meters. It is the only museum with a sea area of 270000 square meters in China and enjoys a high reputation at home and abroad.     

There are nearly 200000 specimens and more than 6000 precious specimens in Dalian Museum of nature. The collection is characterized by marine specimens and fossil specimens of "Rehe biota", among which there are more than 20 species of sea animal specimens. The species and quantity of them are the most in the domestic Museum of natural history, among which 66.7 tons of black right whale specimens are unique in China and rare in Asia. The fossil specimens of "Rehe biota" are the most diverse and characteristic in China, among which a nest of parrot beaked dragon fossils is the only national treasure level fossil specimen with the largest number and the most complete preservation in the world so far, and its research results have been published in nature (September 431, 2004).     

Dalian Museum of nature now has 12 exhibition halls, including earth, dinosaurs, marine organisms, forest animals in Northeast China, wetlands, species diversity and fossil paleontology in western Liaoning. Walking into the preface hall, a 22 meter long and 3 meter high giant relief perfectly integrates the art of "nature and man", which is magnificent and magnificent; a 40 meter long half picture and a lifelike dinosaur ecological model in the dinosaur exhibition hall demonstrate the whole process of the emergence, development and extinction of dinosaurs, and the audience can intuitively understand dinosaurs and their living environment; a very rare and exquisite ancient life in western Liaoning Fossils, as if silently telling people the magical stories that happened billions of years ago, make us have unlimited reverie about the evolution of life and ponder over the future; in the exhibition hall of species diversity, the audience can only press the button to hear the chirp of nearly 30 kinds of birds from the nature; entering the exhibition hall of forest animals in Northeast China is like entering the dense primitive forest and various animal collections Gathered around you, people can't help sighing that they should take care of nature and protect wild animals; touch multimedia computer, large screen color TV, as well as high-tech hardware equipment such as central air conditioning, building automation, security monitoring, digital automatic explanation system, etc., create a convenient and comfortable visiting environment for the audience, as well as a multi-functional hall for cultural activities such as learning, discussion, etc , a rest hall for the audience to rest and observe, as well as shopping, catering and other service facilities.

The display level of Dalian natural museum is advanced. The new museum has won the national top ten excellent exhibition awards in 2000, the best new materials, New Technology Application Award, the first prize of Dalian Science and technology progress in 2001, the first prize of Dalian Science and technology progress in 2005, the first prize of Dalian civilization unit in 2006, the first ten environmental protection scenic spots in 2000, and Dalian City in 2002 Advanced unit of tourism work. In 2003, as the only museum selected in Northeast China, it participated in the Sino French cultural year held in France.
