INTRODUCTION

Metallization is a key step in the production of crystalline silicon solar cells. Through the means of screen printing and sintering of conductive paste, metallized electrodes are prepared on the front and back of the silicon wafer, so as to export the photocarriers to the cells. Slurry is the key material of metallization process, which accounts for about 50-60% of the non silicon cost of battery chip. The slurry is composed of conductive phase, binder and organic carrier, including front silver slurry, back silver slurry and back aluminum slurry, which has an important impact on the photoelectric conversion efficiency and cost of the battery.

In 2018, the new installed capacity of photovoltaic in the world exceeded 100gw, bringing a huge market of 10 billion level to the conductive slurry industry. At the same time, due to the continuous demand for efficiency improvement and cost reduction pressure, crystalline silicon solar cells and component technology are rapidly updated and iterated, which puts forward higher requirements for metallization process and conductive slurry. With the improvement of the localization rate of Zhengyin, the battery enterprises can reduce the cost of paste. Chinese enterprises are constantly introducing new conductive paste for efficient solar cells.

Perc battery requires that the slurry has a wide sintering process window and can match the laser se process; perc back silver should not burn through the back passivation layer and have good tensile performance, and well match the perc aluminum slurry. The double-sided perc battery needs to improve the aspect ratio and reduce the resistance while reducing the amount of aluminum paste. However, the burn through aluminum slurry technology can save the laser drilling step of the back passivation film and reduce the cost of the battery.

In 2018, Tongwei, Aikang, rainbow and other enterprises started to build new capacity of heterojunction battery. The heterojunction battery needs low temperature silver paste, which requires good contact with the TCO layer, rapid curing to shorten the process time, lifting the tension to meet the MBB demand, and it is best to store at room temperature. In addition to silver paste metallization, meyerberg has introduced smartwire smart grid connection technology for heterojunction batteries, which uses copper wire metallization; MECO has also introduced plating metallization technology that can improve battery efficiency.

The n-type double-sided battery urgently needs to reduce the consumption of silver paste to control the cost. Passivation contact technology can greatly improve the conversion efficiency of n-type battery, which is an important development direction of n-type battery. Black silicon technology is becoming the standard for polycrystalline batteries. The special nanostructure on the surface of black silicon batteries requires high tensile force and positive silver which can balance contact resistance and open circuit voltage.
